MINOR MINERAL, VEHICLE & TIMBER WORTH OVER RS.26.53 LAKH SEIZED.
Cuttack,9/9/2022 ( Odisha Samachar )- Today i.e. on 09.09.2022, on receipt of reliable information regarding illegal transportation of black granite stone from forest land, a joint forest raid was conducted by the Forest Wing of Odisha Vigilance on the road side near Jaraka college, PS-Dharmasal, Dist-Jajpur. During raid, one TATA Haiwa vehicle bearing registration No.OD04-Q-7864 loaded with 494 Cft. of black granite stones worth Rs.25,24,000/- (Rupees Twenty-five Lakhs Twenty-four Thousand) was detected and seized. There was no valid permit/documents in support of minor mineral.
In 2nd Operation today, getting reliable information regarding illegal hoarding of timber in one illegal furniture unit at village Jaipur, PS-Patkura, Dist-Kendrapara, a joint forest raid was conducted by the Forest Wing of Odisha Vigilance. During the raid, furniture unit accessories and 24 Cft. of valuable timber worth Rs.1,29,500/-(Rupees One Lakh Twenty-nine Thousand Five Hundred) were detected and seized. It was ascertained that the owner of furniture unit could not produce any valid license. The owner of furniture unit Sri Surendra Kumar Maharana was arrested.
In total, seized produce comes to Rs.26,53,500/- (Rupees Twenty-six Lakh Fifty-three Thousand Five Hundred).
In this connection, two forest cases vide UD Case No.17D of 2022-23 in Dalijoda Range under Cuttack Forest Division for violation of Rule 4 of Minor Mineral Concession Rule, 2004 & 2016 and OR case No.11K of 2022-23 in Kendrapara Range under Cuttack Forest Division for violation of OTT Rule-1980 have been registered respectively and are under investigation.
