Cuttack,8/9/2022 ( Odisha Samachar )-Today i.e. on 08.09.2022, Sri Susil Kumar Patnaik, Junior Clerk, office of DEO, Berhampur, Dist-Ganjam and Sri Pradip Kumar Mohanty, Junior Clerk, Jaypur Nodal High School, Aska, Dist-Ganjam have been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand) from a complainant (Retired Laboratory Attendant) to facilitate his retirement benefits.
Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on 08.09.2022 wherein the accused Sri Susil Kumar Patnaik, Junior Clerk and Sri Pradip Kumar Mohanty, Junior Clerk were caught by the team of Odisha Vigilance in the office premises of DEO, Berhampur while demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand) from the complainant. The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Sri Patnaik and Sri Mohanty and seized in presence of witnesses. Both hands wash as well as shirt pocket wash of Sri Mohanty and right hand wash of Sri Patnaik gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by them. Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the rented residential house of Sri Patnaik at Govinda Vihar, Lochapada, Berhampur, residential house of Sri Mohanty at Jaypur, Aska and office room of Sri Patnaik at O/o DEO, Berhampur. Both the accused persons Sri Susil Kumar Patnaik, Junior Clerk and Sri Pradip Kumar Mohanty, Junior Clerk have been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court tomorrow.
In this connection, Berhampur Vigilance P.S. Case No.17 dated 08.09.2022 U/s 7 PC Amendment Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
