Cuttack,25/5/2022 ( Odisha Samachar )-Today i.e. on 25.05.2022, Sri Nagendranath Swain, Project Associate, office of Project Implementing Agency, Baliguda, Dist-Kandhamal has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.50,000/- (Rupees Fifty Thousand) from the complainant for generating Muster Roll and processing the bills towards payment for execution of Farm Ponds under MGNREG Scheme by four beneficiaries of village Dupi and Edipadar under Tumudibandha Block, Dist-Kandhamal.
Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on 25.05.2022 wherein the accused Sri Nagendranath Swain, Project Associate was caught by the team of Odisha Vigilance at Kutumgarh near Shiva temple, Tumudibandha, Kandhamal while demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.50,000/- (Rupees Fifty Thousand) from the complainant. The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Sri Swain and seized in presence of witnesses. Both hands wash as well as pant pocket wash of Sri Swain gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the residential house of Sri Swain at Prakruti Nagar, Phulbani and office chamber at Baliguda, Dist-Kandhamal. Accused Sri Nagendranath Swain, Project Associate has been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court.
In this connection, Berhampur Vigilance P.S. Case No.6 dated 25.05.2022 U/s 7 PC Act, 1988 as amended by PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
