Cuttack,18/3/2022 ( Odisha Samachar )- Yesterday i.e. on 17.03.2022, Sri Jagabandhu Naik, RI, Bantala under Angul Tahasil, Dist-Angul and Sri Lupun Kumar Sahu of Bantala, Angul (private person) have been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.8,000/- (Rupees Eight Thousand) from the complainant in order to prepare RoR (Patta) in favour of the complainant. The complainant being a very poor man and unable to give bribe was requesting RI for last 3 months to get his work done. But RI Sri Naik was demanding Rs.10,000/- to do the work. Finding no other option, the complainant agreed at last to pay the demanded bribe of Rs.8,000/- to RI in order to get the Patta and reported the matter to Vigilance for legal action.
Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on 17.03.2022 wherein the accused Sri Jagabandhu Naik, RI, Bantala and Sri Lupun Kumar Sahu of Bantala, Angul (private person) were caught by the team of Odisha Vigilance inside the office room of Bantala RI office, Angul while demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.8,000/- (Rupees Eight Thousand) from the complainant. The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Sri Sahu and seized in presence of witnesses. Both hands wash of Sri Sahu gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. Following the trap, search has been launched on the rented residential house of Sri Naik, RI at Amalapada, Angul town. Both the accused persons namely Sri Naik, RI and Sri Sahu have been arrested and are being forwarded to the Court.
In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance P.S. Case No.16 dated 16.03.2022 U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
Previously, Sri Jagabandhu Naik, RI was arrested in 2019 vide Cuttack Vigilance PS case No.23 dt.06.08.2019 for demand and acceptance of bribe for submission of demarcation report in respect of the complainant of the above case. The case has been charge sheeted.
