 Cuttack,16/3/2022 ( Odisha Samachar )- Today i.e. on 16.03.2022, Sri Makka Anand Rao, Chief District Agriculture Officer, Malkangiri, Dist-Malkangiri was arrested by Odisha Vigilance and forwarded to the Court of Spl. Judge Vigilance, Jeypore for possession of disproportionate assets, which he could not account for satisfactorily. In this connection, Koraput Vigilance P.S. Case No.7 dt.16.03.2022 was registered against Sri Makka Anand Rao, Chief District Agriculture Officer and his spouse U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b) /12 PC Act, 1988 as amended by PC (Amendment) Act, 2018.

On the allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income by Sri Makka Anand Rao, Chief District Agriculture Officer, Malkangiri, simultaneous house searches were conducted on 15.03.2022 at 5 places in Nabarangpur and Malkangiri district by 5 teams of Odisha Vigilance led by 3 DSsP, 7 Inspectors and other staff on the strength of Search Warrants issued by the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Jeypore.

During house searches, the following movable and immovable assets worth over Rs.2.21 Crores were unearthed in the name of Sri Makka Anand Rao, Chief District Agriculture Officer and his family members;

• Cash Rs.1,75,950/-.
• One triple storeyed building over plot No.735/1 at Nabarangpur with approx plinth area of 8427 Sqft. near LIC Office, Nabarangpur.
• One triple storeyed building over plot No. 735/1 at Nabarangpur with approx plinth area of 5670 Sqft. near LIC Office, Nabarangpur (under construction).
• 8 plots including 2 plots in prime area of Nabarangpur town and 3 plots at Podalguda, Dist-Nabarangpur in the name of his spouse Smt. M.Anita Anand and 3 plots at Podalguda, Dist-Nabarangpur in the name of Sri Makka Anand Rao, Chief District Agriculture Officer, Malkangiri.
• 1 four wheeler and 1 two wheeler.
• Gold, silver, Bank deposits and household articles worth over Rs.11.73 Lakhs.

After thorough search, inventory and further enquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of Sri Makka Anand Rao, Chief District Agriculture Officer, Malkangiri were calculated and he was found in possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Investigation of the case is in progress.
