– Global Summit of Web Journalists to be held on September 22
Patna., 19/2/2022 ( Odisha Samachar )- A virtual meeting of the Web Journalists Association of India (WJAI) was held on Saturday. Addressing the meeting, the National President Anand Kaushal said that WJAI has been working continuously for web journalists since its inception and its effect is also visible. It is the result of the hard work of Web Journalists Association of India that today the Bihar government has started the process of accreditation to journalists. At the same time, recently, the central government has also issued a notification regarding giving accreditation to web journalists. Along with this, the National President said that soon we will demand from the Central Government to demand relaxation in eligibility for giving accreditation to web portals and journalists.He said that we have already announced the state committees of Bihar and West Bengal and soon the committees will be announced in other states also. Along with this, the National President talked about adding new members. He said that WJAI is the country’s largest association of digital media and we have our own self-regulatory body. We have the largest number of members and all are disciplined.National General Secretary Amit Ranjan said that WJAI is continuously working for web journalists and our aim is to provide maximum facilities to web journalists and they should also be given respect like journalists of print and electronic media. He said that we should always keep media ethics in our mind and work according to it. He said that the WJSA of WJAI is registered with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India and our views will definitely be heard there.National Treasurer Om Prakash Ashok said that WJAI is a strong association and we keep our words firmly in front of the Government and we are happy that the Governments are also respecting our words. Today in Bihar, the Government is giving recognition to web news portals, so the central government has also issued a notification. If we remain restrained, then in other states also the Government will listen to us and take decisions in the interest of web journalists.National Vice President Madho Singh said that we should give a memorandum to the Government and demand that if all our work is done through internet, then all the web portal operators affiliated to WJAI should be provided internet facility at cheap rate. Along with this, he said that WJAI should soon get involved in this campaign so that every state gives recognition to web journalists and passes can be made available to web journalists to go to the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council.At the same time, National Secretary Nikhil K D Verma said that WJAI is a strong platform and soon we will be able to take our rights from the government. During the virtual meeting, it was decided to organize an extended meeting of the National Working Committee in Patna, the capital of Bihar on April 3, while it was also decided to organize a global summit in the month of September.
