Cuttack,4/2/2022 ( Odisha Samachar )- Today i.e. on 04.02.2022, Sri Rabinarayan Sahoo, Asst. Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Police, Mancheswar Police Station, Bhubaneswar has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.5,000/- (Rupees Five Thousand) from a complainant (owner of an Eatery) in order to help him release on bail by minimising the penal sections in a case registered against the complt. under Orissa Excise Act, 2008.
Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on 04.02.2022 wherein the accused Sri Rabinarayan Sahoo, ASI was caught by the team of Odisha Vigilance in the premises of Mancheswar PS while demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.5,000/- (Rupees Five Thousand) from complainant. The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Sri Sahoo, ASI and seized in presence of witnesses. Both hands wash of Sri Sahoo as well as wash of his pant pocket gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. Following the trap, search has been launched on the residential house of Sri Sahoo at Acharya Vihar, Bhubaneswar. He has been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court.
In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance P.S. Case No.2 dated 04.02.2022 U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
