Our Mitti Foundation undertake #SayNoToPlasticTirangaCampaign on Koo App to prevent indiscriminate use of Plastic Tiranga on this Independence Day

Indore,13/8/2021 ( Odisha Samachar )- Ahead of the celebrations around the 75th Independence Day, Koo App, India’s leading social media micro-blogging platform in association with Our Mitti Foundation, an NGO working towards bringing a change in the rural society via education and entrepreneurship has undertaken a campaign to urge the citizens of the country to refrain from using a plastic flag this Independence Day. The campaign aims to encourage the citizens to shun the plastic flags that are traditionally dished out on Independence Day, August 15, and make an effort to make India cleaner, eco-friendly, and more respectful towards our nation’s flag.

Currently, about five trillion tonnes of plastic are floating in the world’s oceans. Since plastic flags are not biodegradable like paper flags, they do not get decomposed for a long time. Therefore, to save the country from the growing plastic menace #SayNoToPlasticTiranga campaign on Koo will aim towards spreading awareness among people to use an alternative (Cloth/Paper Flag) on this Independence Day.

To spread the message further across the country, Our Mitti Foundation will request the users to pledge to use paper flags instead of plastic flags to ensure a safer environment for everyone. While the national flag represents the hopes and aspirations of the billions of people in the country, ensuring the appropriate disposal of a Tricolour made of the non-biodegradable item has always been a practical problem. Hence, the campaign will also leverage the opportunity to invite the eminent Ministers of the country to take a #PledgeOnKoo to #SayNoToPlasticTiranga and use paper/cloth flags instead that will further encourage more citizens to take the pledge on Independence Day.
