Cuttack, 31/03/2021 ( Odisha Samachar )- Sri Sandip Ranjan Mohanta, Ex-Data Entry Operator (Contractual), Bijatola Community Health Center (CHC), Dist. Mayurbhanj was facing trial in the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Baripada in Balasore Vigilance P.S. Case No.6 dated.26.01.2017 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 for demand and acceptance of illegal gratification of Rs.1,000/- (Rupees One Thousand) from complainant Sri Kisun Marandi, Village- Jedarghutu PS- Bisoi Dist. Mayurbhanj in order to return the Rastriya Swasthya Bima Yajona Card for reimbursement of medical expenditure which he (complainant) had deposited four months back at Bijatola CHC while his son was undergoing treatment.
Today i.e. on 31.03.2021, the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Baripada convicted Sri Mohanta, Ex-Data Entry Operator(Contractual) and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 1 year and to pay fine of Rs.5,000/- (Rupees Five Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 months for the offence U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Hon’ble Court further sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and to pay fine of Rs.5,000/-(Rupees Five Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 months for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1) (d) Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Both the sentences are to run concurrently.
