Cuttack,27/04/2021 ( Odisha Samachar )- Sri Sarangadhar Pradhan, Junior Clerk, office of Sub-Divisional Veterinary Officer, Dist. Sundargarh was facing trial in the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Sundargarh in Sambalpur Vigilance P.S. Case No.42 dated 1.8.2007 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 for demand and acceptance of illegal gratification of Rs.4,000/- (Rupees Four Thousand) from complainant Sri Narahari Bhoi of village Bijadihi, PS-Lephripada, Dist. Sundargarh in order to process the pension paper of his father.
On 25.3.2021, the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Sundargarh convicted Sri Pradhan, Junior Clerk and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 1 year and to pay fine of Rs.5,000/- (Rupees Five Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 months for the offence U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Hon’ble Court further sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and to pay fine of Rs.5,000/-(Rupees Five Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 months for the offence U/s 13(1)(d) r/w 13(2) Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Both the sentences are to run concurrently.
