EX-SECRETARY-CUM-HEAD SEVAK, DADAPADA SEVASHRAM, G.UDAYAGIRI BLOCK, DIST. KANDHAMAL   CONVICTED IN VIGILANCE CASE.

Cuttack, 06/03/2021 ( Odisha Samachar )- Sri Umesh Chandra Pradhan, Ex-Secretary-cum-Head Sevak (Retired), Dadapada Sevashram, G. Udayagiri Block, Dist. Kandhamal  was facing trial in the Court of Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance, Phulbani in Berhampur Vigilance PS case No.11 dt.23.5.2014 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(c)(d) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988/409/120-B IPC, for misappropriation of Government money amounting to Rs.4,58,080/-( Rupees Four Lakhs Fifty-eight Thousand Eighty) during construction of upgraded Sevashram and new Upper Primary School in the premises of Dadapada Sevashram under G. Udayagiri Block, Dist. Kandhamal.

Friday i.e. on 5.3.2021, the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Phulbani convicted Sri Umesh Chandra Pradhan, Ex-Secretary-cum-Head Sevak and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 4 years and to pay fine of Rs.1,55,000/- (Rupees One Lakh Fifty-five Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 1 year for the offence U/s 13(2) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 years and to pay fine of Rs.5,000/- (Rupees Five Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 6 months for the offence U/s 409 IPC. Both the sentences are to run concurrently. The convict Sri Pradhan has been remanded to judicial custody.

                   Sri Arun Kumar Nayak, the then Inspector, Vigilance, Phulbani Unit under Berhampur Division, A/p. DSP, Vigilance, Berhampur Division had investigated the case and Sri P.K. Dora, Spl. P.P Vigilance, Berhampur Court conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
