Cuttack,04/03/2021 ( Odisha Samachar )- Today i.e. on 4.3.2021, Miss Charulata Mallick, District Welfare Officer (DWO), Angul has been caught by the officers of Vigilance, Cuttack Division for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.49,000/- (Rupees Forty-nine Thousand) from complainant Sri Chaturbhuja Pudha, working as Cook-cum-Attendant in the office of DWO, Angul in order to release his salary of three months.
Accordingly, a trap was laid on 4.3.2021. Accused Miss Charulata Mallick, DWO was caught by the officers of Vigilance, Cuttack Division in his office chamber while demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.49,000/- (Rupees Forty-nine Thousand) from complainant Sri Pudha. As per the direction of accused Miss Mallick, DWO, complainant Sri Pudha kept the bribe money on the office table of Miss Mallick. The bribe money of Rs.49,000/- was recovered from the possession of Miss Mallick and seized in presence of witnesses. Personal cash of Rs.1,02,010/- was recovered from her vanity bag. Her residential government quarter and office chamber at Angul and house at Jagatpur, Cuttack are being searched. The accused Miss Mallick, DWO has been arrested and is being forwarded to the Court.
In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance P.S. case No.5 dated 3.3.2021 U/s 7 PC Act, 1988 as amended by the PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
