For an actor, getting into the skin of a character to portray the right emotions and delivering dialogues seamlessly might look easy, but it is always the opposite in reality. To master perfection, many times, crucial scenes go through multiple retakes. Similar is the case with a recently shot scene in &TV’s Yeshu. In one of the scenes, the spiteful and radical Herod Antipas (Rudra Soni) had to chomp off a slice of watermelon. One might say that biting a watermelon is not rocket science, but shooting this particular sequence was not easy for Rudra. Believe it or not, Rudra Soni ended up consuming five giant watermelons while trying to gain perfection. Expressing his newfound love-hate relationship with the melon, Rudra Soni said, “If I have to put it simply, it was a ‘fruit-filled day!’ The scene was simple, but bringing out the right emotion is where the challenge started. I did not have many lines to deliver in that scene, but my facial expressions played an essential factor. In getting the shot right, I ended up eating so much watermelon that I couldn’t eat anything after. I was curious to know how much I ate with a filled stomach, and I was shocked to see that I had 5 of them! All I can say is that in the end, I finally triumphed and perfected the scene. He further adds, “This incident has now taken a hilarious route on the sets as my co-actors to date tease me if anyone gets melon in their lunch box. Jokes apart, I also learned that watermelon is one of the only foods to be classified as both a fruit and a vegetable. Don’t you think that is so cool?”
