Cuttack,21/01/2021 ( Odisha Samachar )- Wednesday i.e. on 20.1.2021, Sri Batakrushna Kata, Horticulture Overseer, Daringbadi, Dist. Kandhamal has been caught red-handed by the officers of Vigilance, Berhampur Division for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand) from complainant Sri Pure Pradhan of village-Malebadi, PS-Daringbadi, Dist. Kandhamal in order to process wage list for release of labour payment under MGNREG Scheme in favour of the complainant.
Accordingly, a trap was laid on 20.1.2021. Accused Sri Batakrushna Kata, Horticulture Overseer was caught red-handed by the officers of Vigilance, Berhampur Division inside his office room while demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand) from complainant Sri Pradhan. The bribe money was recovered from the possession of Sri Kata and seized in presence of witnesses. Right hand wash of Sri Kata gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. Rented house of Sri Kata at Kalinga, Dist. Kandhamal and office room at Daringbadi are being searched. Sri Batakrushna Kata, Horticulture Overseer, Daringbadi, Dist. Kandhamal has been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court.
In this connection, Berhampur Vigilance P.S. case No.1 dt.19.1.2021 U/s 7 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
