PANCHAYAT EXECUTIVE OFFICER (PEO), THUAPADAR GRAM PANCHAYAT, BHAWANIPATNA BLOCK, DIST. KALAHANDI ARRESTED BY VIGILANCE IN DISPROPORTIONATE ASSETS CASE.

Cuttavk,29/12/2020 ( Odisha Samachar / Dipti Ranjan Kanungo )- On the allegation of acquisition of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income by Sri Baleswar Naik, Panchayat Executive Officer (PEO), Thuapadar Gram Panchayat, Bhawanipatna Block, Dist. Kalahandi, his (1) residential triple-storied building at Godown Pada, Bhawanipatna, Dist. Kalahandi, (2) house at native village Bhelagaon, PS-Jaipatna, Dist. Kalahandi, and (3) office room at Thuapadar GP, Bhawanipatna Block, Dist. Kalahandi were simultaneously searched on 28.12.2020 by the officers of Vigilance, Koraput Division on the strength of Search Warrants issued by the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhawanipatna.

                   In course of search and inventory, Sri Baleswar Naik, PEO was found in possession of assets worth Rs.96,47,798/- (Rupees Ninety-six Lakhs Forty-seven Thousand Seven Hundred Ninety-eight) including one triple-storied building, three numbers of plots, three numbers of two wheelers, deposits in different banks, investment in various insurance policies,  gold ornaments, cash of over 5.4 Lakhs and household articles.

After search, inventory and further enquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of Sri Naik was calculated and he was found in possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income to the tune of Rs.79,78,208/- (Rupees Seventy-nine Lakhs Seventy-eight Thousand Two Hundred Eight).

As Sri Baleswar Naik, Panchayat Executive Officer (PEO), Thuapadar Gram Panchayat, Bhawanipatna Block, Dist. Kalahandi was found in possession of disproportionate assets, which he could not account for satisfactorily, Koraput Vigilance P.S. Case No.29 dt.29.12.2020 was registered against Sri Naik U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b) Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 for detailed investigation. In course of investigation, today i.e. on 29.12.2020, Sri Naik has been arrested and forwarded to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhawanipatna. The Hon’ble Court has remanded him to jail custody till 11.1.2021.

                   Investigation of the case is in progress.
