Cuttack, 15/12/2020 ( Odisha Samachar / Dipti Ranjan Kanungo )- Today i.e. on 15.12.2020, Sri Ashish Kumar Rout, Sub-Assistant Registrar, Co-operative Societies, Subarnapur has been caught red-handed by the officers of Vigilance, Sambalpur Division for demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs.17,000/- (Rupees Seventeen Thousand) from complainant Sri Manjaya Dharua of village Balpur, PS-Dunguripali, Dist-Subarnapur in order to process pending paddy procurement bills in favour of the complainant.
Accordingly, a trap was laid on 15.12.2020. Accused Sri Ashish Kumar Rout, Sub-Assistant Registrar was caught red-handed by the officers of Vigilance, Sambalpur Division in his office room while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.17,000/-(Rupees Seventeen Thousand) from complainant Sri Dharua. Accused Sri Rout directed the complainant to keep the bribe money inside the computer table drawer. The bribe money was recovered from the computer table drawer and seized in presence of witnesses. Wash of plain paper kept inside the computer table drawer over which the bribe money was kept gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance of bribe money by accused Sri Rout. He has been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court.
In this connection, Sambalpur Vigilance P.S. case No.35 dt.14.12.2020 U/s 7 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
