Bhubaneswar, 9/11/2024(Odisha Samachar / Rajat Mohapatra )-OSDMA in collaboration with the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru organized the 2nd Batch of the Training of Trainers (ToT) Programme- on “Enhancing Psychosocial Care for Communities in Disaster Prone Areas of Odisha” from 06th to 08th November 2024 at Madhusudan Das Regional Academy of Financial Management (MDRAFM), Bhubaneswar.
The basic objective of the programme was to create a pool of trainers who will further build psychosocial care capacities at the community level and impart training to community level workers like ASHA, AWW and Volunteers in psychosocial first aid and psychosocial care.
District Project Officer of OSDMA; Psychiatrist, Clinical Psychologist, Psychiatric Social Worker of District Mental Health Programme; Assistant Manager- Community Process of NHM; and District Child Protection Officers from 06 coastal districts; Civil Defence Instructors; Instructress from State Institute for Women and Children (SIWC) and ODRAF- DMTC Master Trainers participated in the ToT programme. The 03-day ToT programme covered various aspects of disasters and its impact on mental health, psychosocial first aid and psychosocial care techniques and self-care strategies.
