Bhubaneswar,23/3/2024 ( Odisha Samachar )-Today i.e. on 23.03.2024, Sri Priyabrata Pradhan, Sub Inspector (SI) of Police, Saheed Nagar PS, Bhubaneswar UPD has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and accepting of undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.2,000/- (Rupees Two Thousand) as 2nd installment of overall demand of Rs.5,000/- from a complainant to return the seized Driving License (DL) in connection with a case registered in Saheed Nagar PS two days back. The complainant had paid Rs.3,000/- to the accused SI, Sri Pradhan on 21.3.2024. But he demanded Rs.2,000/- more to release the DL.
Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on 23.03.2024, wherein the accused Sri Priyabrata Pradhan, SI of Police was caught by the team of Odisha Vigilance in the premises of Saheed Nagar PS while demanding and accepting of undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.2,000/- (Rupees Two Thousand) from the complainant. The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Sri Pradhan and seized in presence of witnesses. Both hands wash of Sri Pradhan gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the rented residential house of Sri Pradhan at VSS Nagar, Bhubaneswar and parental house at Rebana Nuagaon, PS-Brahmagiri, Dist-Puri. Accused Sri Priyabrata Pradhan, SI of Police has been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court.
In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS Case No.08 dt.23.03.2024 U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
