Rayagada,December 13, 2023, ( Odisha Samachar)- Ritesh Agarwal, the founder of global travel-tech company OYO and Last Mile Care have announced the launch of Ramesh and Bela Agarwal Healthcare Centre in Rayagada. The center was inaugurated by Shri Jagannath Saraka, The honorable Minister for SC/ST Development, Minorities and Backward Class Welfare and Law. The center offers free treatment to underprivileged for first three months and discounted treatment for the first six months

The center provides primary healthcare services and fosters a culture of wellness for the people of Rayagada and its nearby areas. It also offers facilities such as preventive care, diagnostic services, primary healthcare services, preventive care, diagnostic services and treatment for minor illnesses along with professional consultation and referral services, affordable medication and digital health record facilities.

The healthcare center, strategically located in the heart of Rayagada, aims to address the healthcare disparities faced by the tribal communities in the region. It has a team of doctors with specialisation in gynecology, eye diseases and heart diseases. There is also a pharmacy to offer complete healthcare solutions to patients.

There are plans to open 5 more such centres across Odisha over the next few months.

This endeavor showcases Ritesh Agarwal’s commitment to giving back to Rayagada, the town where he spent his formative years. The center has been named so as a mark of respect for his parents, the late Mr Ramesh Agarwal, and Bela Agarwal.

With Last Mile Care as its operational partner, the center is well equipped to provide basic healthcare facilities both to the underprivileged as well as the general public. Last Mile Care is already running 13

such centers successfully across India including the one at Tandipur village is Odisha which is developed in partnership with OYO Care, the CSR wing of OYO. Ramesh and Bela Healthcare Centre at Rayagada is a bigger centre with more facilities and technological support.

While inaugurating the healthcare center, Jagannath Saraka, Minister for SC/ST Development, Minorities and Backward Class Welfare and Law said The inauguration of this healthcare center is a testament to the collective commitment of all involved parties towards promoting inclusive and accessible healthcare. It represents a step forward in honoring the rights of tribal communities to quality healthcare services, contributing to the overall development and well-being of the region”.

Rayagada is predominantly a tribal district in Odisha with 88% of the people belonging to the tribal population. The literacy rate of the district is only 56% which is one of the biggest challenges in communicating health messages to the communities.
