ICAR-CIFA ObservesSwachhtaPakhwada from 16-31st Dec, 2022

Bhubaneswar, 31/12/2022 ( Odisha Samachar )- ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (ICAR-CIFA), Bhubaneswar, a constituent of Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi  under the aegis of Ministry of Agriculture &Farmers’ Welfare, Govt. of India observed “SwachhtaPakhwada” during 16-31 December, 2022. The Institute has reached out to Fish Farmers, Students and Common citizens with the message of cleanliness & sanitation.

Since initiation of Swachh Bharat Mission in 2014, ICAR-CIFA is regularly organizing various programmes and activities round the year. As a part of implementation of “SwachhtaPakhwada” campaign during 16-31 December 2022, various Swachhta activities were enthusiastically carried out by the Institute scientists, staff and scholars inits campus, nearby villages, schools and at some tourist places. The highlights of the activities were implementation of e-office; promotion of clean and green technology in the villages; plantation; cleanliness and sanitation drive including cleaning of offices and premises; segregation & disposal of biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste; conversion and utilization of different types of wastes; campaign for single use polythene free environment; campaign on safe water, cleaning of sewerage and water lines; organizing technology demonstrations on agricultural technologies for conversion of waste to wealth;Celebration of KisanDiwas; awareness camps etc.

The Closing ceremony of SwachhtaPakhwada was observed on 30 Dec 2022. On this occasion MrsSulochana Das, Mayor, BMC, Bhubaneswar was chief guest of the function. She mentioned in her talk about civic values, smart and clean Bhubaneswar, segregation of dry and wet wastes in our home, creation of wealth from wastes etc. She also urged the august gathering not to use single use plastics for marketing.Earlier Director, ICAR- CIFA DrPramoda KumarSahoo in his welcome address mentioned the importance of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and also elaborated the swachhta activities taking place within the CIFA campus. Briefing of 15 days programme was presented by DrPushpaChoudhary, Nodal Officer Swachh Bharat team, ICAR CIFA. She alsopresented a video on the Swachhta activities under SwachhtaPakhwada which  was jointly observed by ICAR CIFA and KVK Khordha including the RRCs of ICAR CIFA. Mr Jackson Debbarma, Swachh Bharat team member, presented the formal vote of thanks. All total of 70 participants including scientists and staffs of ICAR CIFA participated in the closing ceremony by physical presence and by virtual mode all the RRCs staffs participated in the programme and made it successful. The programme was coordinated by the Swachh Bharat team & Sri Durga Prasad Rath, ACTO and Sri Sisir Kumar Mohanty, ACTO, Social Science Section.
