Bhubaneswar, 26/10/2022 ( Odisha Samachar )- Krishi Vigyan Kendra – Khordha, ICAR- Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (CIFA), Bhubaneswar organized an awareness programme on “Utilization of organic waste and generation of wealth from waste” as a part of “Special SwachhataCampaign 2.0” at Danapada village, Balipatna Block of Khordha districton 26.10.2022. Mr. A.K. Dash, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK-Khordha highlighted the different methods of preparation of organic fertilizers and plant growth regulators utilizing waste from agriculture and fisheries. He also encouraged the village people to practice organic farming for safe food production.
Mr. Surendra Singh, SMS (Crop Production) emphasized on clean cultivation in field crops.Dr.Harapriya Nayak, SMS (Home Science) briefed about the preparation of vermicompost from household and farm waste. Dr. P.R. Sahoo, SMS (Fishery Science) emphasized about the utilization of fishery waste to generate wealth. Besides, a cleanliness drive was organized at the community places of the village and various sanitization materials were also distributed to the farmers/farmwomen for future cleaning of the village surroundings. The farmers/farmwomen including KVK staff members hung colourful and meaningful placards and a small rally on swachhata was carried out at the village conveying the message“Clean India, Green India”. About 130 participants participated in the cleanliness drive-cum-awareness programme. Smt. Sukanti Behera ACTO (Home Science) proposed vote of thanks.
