Cuttack,22/7/2022 ( Odisha Samachar )- Today i.e. on 22.07.2022, Dr. Sarada Prasanna Behera, Medical Officer(MO) (Ayush), Gairbahal PHC, Dist-Sundargarh has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.4,000/- (Rupees Four Thousand) as balance installment of overall demand of Rs.12,000/- from a complainant (Auto Driver) to treat Trauma patients at the PHC, Gairbahal, who were injured in his overturned Auto on 17.07.2022. Dr. Behera also threatened the Auto driver to intimate the local Police otherwise, adding that this would lead to cancelation of his driving license. Finding no option, the complainant paid Rs.8,000/- to the doctor on 17.07.2022 and reported the matter to Vigilance.

Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on 22.07.2022 wherein the accused Dr. Sarada Prasanna Behera, M.O was caught by the team of Odisha Vigilance in Gairbahal PHC while demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.4,000/- (Rupees Four Thousand) from the complainant. The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Dr Behera and seized in presence of witnesses. Both hands wash as well as pant pocket wash of Dr. Behera gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the rented residential Govt. quarter of Dr. Behera inside Gairbahal PHC and house at native village Kunjakanta, Dist-Dhenkanal. Accused Dr. Sarada Prasanna Behera, M.O has been arrested and is being forwarded to the Court.

In this connection, Rourkela Vigilance P.S. Case No.13 dated 21.07.2022 U/s 7 PC Act, 1988 as amended by PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.

In one more Vigilance Operation today, Sri N. Jagadish Rao, Senior Revenue Assistant, office of Tahasildar, Hinjilicut, Dist-Ganjam has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand) from a complainant (retired paramilitary person) in order to process  his mutation case record for issuance of RoR (Patta) in favor of complainant.

Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on 22.07.2022 wherein the accused Sri N. Jagadish Rao, Senior Revenue Assistant was caught by the team of Odisha Vigilance inside the Tahasil office, Hinjilicut while demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.10,000/-(Rupees Ten Thousand) from the complainant. The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Sri Rao and seized in presence of witnesses. Both hands wash as well as shirt pocket wash of Sri Rao gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the rented residential house of Sri Rao at Ambika Nagar, Berhampur, Ganjam and office room at Hinjilicut. Accused Sri N. Jagadish Rao, Senior Revenue Assistant has been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court.

In this connection, Berhampur Vigilance P.S. Case No.11 dated 21.07.2022 U/s 7 PC Act, 1988 as amended by PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
