EX-TAHASILDAR, SHAMAKHUNTA, DIST-MAYURBHANJ CONVICTED IN VIGILANCE TRAP CASE.

Cuttack,25/3/2022 ( Odisha Samachar )- Smt. Sabita Sahoo, Ex-Tahasildar, Shamakhunta, Dist-Mayurbhanj, A/p-Deputy Collector, Balasore was facing trial in the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Baripada in Balasore Vigilance P.S. Case No.45 dated 26.11.2014 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 for demand and acceptance of illegal gratification of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand) from a complainant to accord permission for manufacturing of 5 Lakhs bricks in mauza Mahulia under Shamakhunta Tahasil.

Today i.e. on 25.03.2022, the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Baripada convicted Smt. Sabita Sahoo, Ex-Tahasildar, A/p-Deputy Collector, Balasore and sentenced her to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 1 year and to pay fine of Rs.5,000/- (Rupees Five Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 1 month for the offence U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The Hon’ble Court further sentenced her to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and to pay fine of Rs.10,000/-(Rupees Ten Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 months for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Both the sentences are to run concurrently.

Sri R.K. Kanungo, Ex-DSP, Vigilance Balasore Division had investigated the case and Sri S.K. Ray, In-charge Spl. P.P, Vigilance, Baripada conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
