Cuttack, 24/12/2020 ( Odisha Samachar / Dipti Ranjan Kanungo )- On the allegation of acquisition of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income by Smt. Sandhyarani Bhata, Anganwadi Worker, Akhayadham Anganwadi Centre, Balisahi, Puri, her 1) residential house at Baselisahi, Puri, 2) two numbers of houses at Balisahi, PS-Baliapanda, and Pipili, Puri, 3) triple-storied building at Baselisahi, Puri, 4) house of relative at Hatasahi, Puri, 5) office room of her spouse at office of Assistant Fishery Officer, Delanga, Puri, and  6) her office room at Akhayadham Anganwadi Centre, Balisahi, Puri were simultaneously searched on 23.12.2020 by the officers of Vigilance, Bhubaneswar Division on the strength of Search Warrants issued by the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar.

In course of search and inventory, Smt. Sandhyarani Bhata, Anganwadi Worker was found in possession of assets worth Rs.1,14,28,536/- (Rupees One Crore Fourteen Lakhs Twenty-eight Thousand Five Hundred Thirty-six) including one triple-storied building, two numbers of single-storied buildings, two numbers of asbestos houses, five numbers of plots, one four wheeler, three numbers of two wheelers, deposits in different banks, gold & silver ornaments and cash.

After search, inventory and further enquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of Smt. Bhata was calculated and she was found in possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income to the tune of Rs.1,24,18,991/- (Rupees One Crore Twenty-four Lakhs Eighteen Thousand Nine Hundred Ninety-one).

As Smt. Sandhyarani Bhata, Anganwadi Worker, Akhayadham Anganwadi Centre, Balisahi, Puri was found in possession of disproportionate assets, which she could not account for satisfactorily, Bhubaneswar Vigilance P.S. Case No.43 dt.24.12.2020 was registered against Smt. Bhata U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b) PC Act, 1988 as amended by Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 for detailed investigation. In course of investigation, today i.e. on 24.12.2020, Smt. Bhata has been arrested and forwarded to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar. The Hon’ble Court has remanded her to jail custody till 6.1.2021.

Investigation of the case is in progress.
