Samavesh 2025-Growing with inclusion
Bhubaneswar, 20/02/2025 ( Odisha Samachar / Rajat Mohapatra )-: By considering the inclusion of visually impaired individuals into the mainstream workforce and enhancing their financial independence, Skill Council for Persons with Disability (SCPwD), with the support of Department of Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD) Government of Odisha, along with knowledge and implementation Partner NAB India Centre for Blind Women, Delhi has organized a National Seminar ‘Samavesh-2025’ in Bhubaneswar.
The initiative was inaugurated by Shri Sampad Chandra Swain, Hon’ble Minister for Industries, Skill Development, and Technical Education, Government of Odisha, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Among other dignitaries Ms Rashmita Panda, Director, SD&TE, Smt. Niyati Pattnayak, Director, SSEPD, Ms. Shalini Khanna, Chairperson, SCPWD, Mr. Pradipta Mohanty, CII Head, Mr. Ambika Prasad Nanda, CSR Head, Tata were graced convention.
In his speech, the Minister highlighted that an ‘Ability beyond disability can fostering inclusive growth among the differently abled’. Training and employment of individuals with disabilities at Jatni ITI in fields like Trades, Customer care executive, Warehouse packaging, Asst Spa Therapist, Medical tactile examiners. Inspired by the vision of the Hon’ble Prime Minister and Union Minister skill development has become a key focus under Chief Minister’s leadership. Emphasizing youth’s role in Odisha’s progress, the state government is committed to inclusive growth under the mantra ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayas.’ Today’s program aims to empower Divyang individuals financially, with active industry participation to expand its impact.
Ms. Shalini Khanna, Chairperson, SCPWD on her address speech said, NAB India Centre for Blind Women and Disability Studies, has successfully replicated its pioneering training programs for persons with visual impairments at the Special ITI in Odisha. SSEPD, Government of Odisha, has bringing up the stipend and pension scheme to the visually impaired people. Launched in November 2024, this Diversity and Inclusion initiative aims to train approximately 100 youth annually with visual impairments, empowering them to integrate into the mainstream work environment. The first batch of 30 Visually Impaired youth are undergoing training in various fields like Customer Care Executive, Warehouse packer, Assistant Spa Therapist, and Medical Tactile Examiner in the Special ITI, Bhubaneswar.
