Zero Fatalities, Zero Blackouts: Chief Secretary’s Push for Safety with SurakhyaKavach App
Bhubaneswar, 22/01/2026 ( Odisha Samachar / Rajat Mohapatra )- At the Board Meeting of OdishaDiscoms, viz. TPCODL, TPNODL, TPSODL and TPWODL, chairperson Smt. AnuGarg, Chief Secretary, Government of Odisha, reviewed the companies’ performance for the period ended 31st December 2025 and strategic priorities, reaffirming a strong commitment to strengthening power distribution infrastructure and enhancing consumer experience across its service areas.
Continued emphasis was placed on capital investment in network modernization, reliability improvement and technology-led initiatives to build a resilient and future-ready distribution system. Timely execution of government-funded projects aligned with national and state priorities on energy access, sustainability and efficiency was deliberated.
Progress under the smart metering programme was reviewed, highlighting its role in enabling transparent billing, improved energy accounting and stronger consumer engagement. The implementation of PM Surya GharMuftBijliYojana along with the Utility Led Aggregation (ULA) model was also emphasized, recognizing its importance in accelerating rooftop solar adoption, empowering consumers and supporting the clean energy transition.
Operational performance was reviewed with a focus on reliability enhancement through network strengthening, automation, preventive maintenance and improved outage management, aimed at sustained improvement in SAIDI, SAIFI and AT&C performance.
Emphasis was laid on use of SurakhyaKavach App to ensure real-time safety, emergency response, and coordinated monitoring of DISCOM field staff during outages, accidents, and disaster-related power restoration.
Reinforcing a consumer-first approach was encouraged to strengthen customer care, expand digital service channels and enable faster, more responsive service delivery.
Guidance was reiterated to continue driving operational excellence, leverage technology for superior outcomes and work closely with government stakeholders to deliver long-term value to consumers and all stakeholders.
