Bhubaneswar,02/11/2025( Odisha Samachar/Rajat Mohapatra )-The Directorate of Economics & Statistics (DE&S), Odisha, under the Planning & Convergence Department, has successfully conducted a two-day intensive training programme on the National Data Archive (NADA) platform. The event was held on October 30-31, 2025, at the Madhusudan Das Regional Academy of Financial Management (MDRAFM), Chandrasekharpur, Bhubaneswar.
The training programme aimed to enhance the institutional capacity of DE&S in data archiving, documentation and dissemination using internationally recognized metadata standards. It represents a key milestone under the World Bank-funded Odisha State Capacity and Resilient Growth Programme (OSCRGP), focusing on building a robust and transparent state statistical system.
The training programme was inaugurated by Shri T. Ao, IAS, Special Secretary, P & C Department, who has emphasized that statistical data is vital for evidence-based policymaking and research-driven insights. He acknowledged DE&S’s efforts in strengthening statistical systems and noted that in the era of Artificial Intelligence, the value of authentic statistical data remains indispensable.
Dr. BijayaBhusan Nanda, Director, Economics & Statistics set the context of the training programme and highlighted that the DE&S is the nodal agency in the State to generate statistics through surveys, censuses and other statistical activities. In order to add value to the data, the same are to be disseminated among the policy makers, researchers, academicians etc. Therefore, the DE&S has introduced NADA for data catalogue and become the first State in the country to disseminate data and other survey documents for its easy access and download by the users to make analysis and interpretations.
The sessions were led by Mr. Somnath Sambhudas, an internationally renowned Statistical Information System Specialist and IT & Data Dissemination Expert.
The Directorate of Economics & Statistics (DE&S), Odisha, has already published the Data Dissemination Policy and its Implementation Guidelines for the dissemination of official statistics. In line with this policy, DE&S is committed to ensuring the effective and efficient dissemination of statistical data to various users.
