Cuttack, 12/9/2025 ( Odisha Samachar )-Today, i.e. on 12.09.2025, Sri Chittaranjan Rout, District Labour Officer (DLO), Nayagarhhas been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and taking undue advantage (bribe) ofRs.6,000/-(Rupees Six Thousand)from a Labourer (Complainant) for issuance of labour cards in favour of complt. and other 19 labourers. The complt. and his colleagues, being poor labourers, were unable to pay the demanded bribe Rs.6,000/-. However, the accused Sri Rout refused to issue Labour Cards unless he was paid the demanded bribe Rs.6,000/-. In the process there was a delay of nearly one year for issuance of cards. Hence, the Complt. reported the matter to Vigilance authorities alleging harassment by Sri Rout.
Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on 12.09.2025, wherein the accused Sri Chittaranjan Rout, DLO wasnabbed by the team of Odisha Vigilance in his office room for demanding and taking undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.6,000/-(Rupees Six Thousand) from the complainant. The entire bribe money was recovered and seized from the possession of Sri Rout in presence of witnesses. Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the rented residential house of Sri Rout at Nayagarh, house at native village Fakirpada, Kandarpur, Cuttack and his office chamber. Accused Sri Chittaranjan Rout, District Labour Officer, Nayagarh has been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court.
In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS Case No.19 dated 11.09.2025 U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
