Cuttack, 12/9/2025 ( Odisha Samachar )-Today, i.e. on 12.09.2025, the Confiscation Court (Authorised Officer, Spl. Court), Vigilance, Bhubaneswar, passed order for confiscating the immovable and movable assets of Sri Nirakar Rout, Former Senior Geologist, Remote Sensing Division, Bhubaneswar,which includes immovable assets i.e. 1 building& plot at Jajpur road and movable assets i.e. Bank deposits.
Sri Nirakar Rout, Former Senior Geologist, Remote Sensing Division, Bhubaneswarwas charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance U/s 13 (2) r/w 13 (1) (e) PC Act. 1988/109 IPC for possession of above referred assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. During trial in the case, Sri Nirakar Rout, Former Senior Geologist, Remote Sensing Division, Bhubaneswar was convicted by Spl. Judge, Spl. Court, Bhubaneswar on 05.02.2018 for possessing DA and sentenced to undergo Rigorous Imprisonment for a period of 2 years and to pay fine of Rs.50,000/-.
Late Somanath Dixit, Ex-Inspector of Police, Vigilance, BhubaneswarDivision had investigated the case and Sri ManasRanjan Mishra, Spl. PP, Court of Authorized Officer, Special Court, Bhubaneswar conducted the case on behalf of Odisha Vigilance.
The Odisha Spl. Courts Act provides for speedy trial of DA cases against public servants holding high political and public offices, and confiscation of disproportionate assets. In all DA cases against senior ranks, trial is conducted in Special Vigilance Courts meant for the purpose in Cuttack/Bhubaneswar. Also, Odisha Vigilance is simultaneously launching confiscation proceedings in Spl. Courts established for the purpose, for confiscation of their properties.
Odisha Vigilance is committed to take strong action against corrupt practices by government/public servants, including confiscation of properties acquired through corrupt means, in the future.
