Two-Day Training Program on Energy Conservation and Sustainable Building Code (ECSBC) Compliance and Simulation Conducted by SDA

Bhubaneswar, 25/06/2025( Odisha Samachar / Rajat Mohapatra )- The Building Cell, operating under the Office of the EIC (Electricity)-cum-PCEI(O), the State Designated Agency (SDA), successfully organized a two-day training program on ECSBC Compliance Procedures and Simulation for Compliance. The event was tailored for officials from the Works Department and Odisha Bridge Construction Corporation (OBCC).

The program was inaugurated by Smt. Namita Mohapatra, Deputy Chief Architect, Works Department, who delivered the keynote address emphasizing the critical role of energy conservation in the building sector. A special address was delivered by ShriPyarimohan Mishra, EIC (Electricity)-cum-PCEI(O), highlighting the significance of Energy Conservation Codes and the importance of compliance within the building sector. He underscored the need for collaborative efforts among stakeholders to accelerate the implementation of these codes across the state.

Participants included officials from the Works Department, OBCC, and the Energy Department. The training sessions were led by Shri Rana Pratap Poddar and Shri Kumar Biplab, certified Master Trainers from the Bureau of Energy Efficiency. The program featured technical sessions on ECSBC Code compliance for commercial and residential buildings, detailed compliance procedures, and a hands-on workshop on energy simulation software tools.

This training initiative is part of the SDA’s ongoing capacity-building efforts. It aligns with the State’s current review of the ECSBC Code published by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, aimed at amending the Odisha Energy Conservation Building Code (OECBC), originally notified in 2022 by the Department of Energy
