Google Wellness Foundation observed the ‘World Water Day 2025’

Bhubaneswar,23/03/2025 ( Odisha Samachar/Dipti Ranjan Kanungo )Google Wellness Foundation, a city based, not for profit entity has observed the World Water Day here with the theme ‘Glacier Preservation’ yesterday. Every year, on 22nd March it is observed globally as an annual UN Observance Day to raise awareness of a major water-related issue and inspires action to tackle the water and sanitation crisis globally.

Google Wellness Foundation, registered as a Trust for rendering social services to varied sections of the society aims to deliver hope and happiness to the elderly through compassion & care andto cover all aspects of seniors’ needs, who are living in isolation mostly.

“This year’s focus is on the critical role of glaciers around the world in maintaining global freshwater supplies and the urgent need for conservation measures in the face of climate change.Our Foundation will work in generating mass awareness to build a climate conscious society and water conservation related issues from today onwards” mentioned Pradipta Kumar Swain, Managing Trustee, Google Wellness Foundation while addressing the gathering.

The chief guest of the event, Prof. Kajri Mishra, Dean, Xavier School of Human Settlements, XIM University, Bhubaneswar said “glaciers are critical to life – their meltwater is essential for drinking water, agriculture, industry, clean energy production and healthy ecosystems. We must work together to put glacier preservation at the core of our plans to tackle climate change and the global water crisis.”

Among other dignitariesSanjay Kumar Pramanik, OFS,Retd. Special Secretary, Govt. of Odisha, Rabi Narayan Kanungo, Retd. Additional Secretary, Govt. of Odisha, Smt. Saroj Nalini Parida,Retd. AGCS & Social Worker were present on the dais.

Marking the outstanding contribution in water sector, Rabi Narayan Kanungo was conferred with Google Wellness Foundation Legacy Award in the occasion. In addition to this, Sarat Parida has received Google Wellness Foundation Best Volunteer Award and Smt. Anjana Dash & Smt. Labanya Beherahave received Google Wellness Foundation Consolation Awards for their selfless social services.

A drama called ‘Bundaye Jala’ (One Drop of Water) was performed by a city-based group ‘Theatre for Educational Awareness Movement’ on this year’s theme during the event.
