Bhubaneswar, 5 December, 2024( Odisha Samachar )- ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (ICAR-CIFA), Bhubaneswar, organized a one-day Awareness-cum-Training Programme on Scientific Aquaculture under the SCSP project on December 4, 2024, at Rajendrapur village in the Bhandaripokhari block of Bhadrak district, Odisha.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from nearly 200 beneficiaries, including around 160 women farmers and 40 male farmers, underscoring the vital role of women in aquaculture and associated community activities.The ICAR-CIFA scientific team, led by Dr. H. K. Barman, Mr. A. S. Mohapatra, Dr. U. K. Udit, and Dr. N. Chandan, engaged with the farmers to address the challenges they face in aquaculture. They also showcased the institute’s latest technological innovations designed to boost productivity and improve farming practices.
Mr. A. S. Mahapatra efficiently coordinated the programme, ensuring its smooth execution. Dr. N. Chandan delivered an informative session on fish nutrition, stressing the importance of adhering to a structured feeding schedule and the advantages of using various types of fish feed. On the other hand, Dr. U. K. Udit motivated farmers to diversify into fish seed production alongside cultivating Indian Major Carps (IMC), emphasizing its potential to enhance income and improve livelihoods. He also provided valuable guidance on effective practices for quality seed production.
The programme also featured the participation of Mr. Dipesh Ranjan Das, Sagar Mitra, who informed farmers about various fish farming schemes designed to benefit them. Additionally, Mr. Purna Chandra Majhi and Mr. Dhaneswar Khuntia, the Sarpanch of Rajendrapur and Tesingha Gram Panchayats respectively, engaged with the farmers in meaningful interactions.
The program concluded with Dr. Barman delivering a heartfelt vote of thanks to all participants and contributors, signifying the successful conclusion of a highly insightful and impactful event.
