ICAR-CIFA organised Farmer-Scientist Interface Programme on Freshwater Aquaculture in Sarakana, Baliantna, Khordha

Bhubaneswar, 16/10/2024 ( Odisha Samachar )- ICAR- Central Institute of Fresh water Aquaculture,Bhubaneswar organized Farmer-Scientist Interface program on FreshwaterAquacultureat Village: Sarakana (Gram Panchayat: Sarakana, Block: Balianta, District: Khordha) on 16th October2024. The participation of around 110 beneficiaries including farm women indicated a positive response from the community. On this occasion scientist from ICAR-CIFA, Dr.G. S.Saha, Dr. C. K. Misra and Dr. Husne Banu, discussed about the importance ofaquaculture and utilization of the latest technology from ICAR-CIFA for maximizing productivity in ponds.Dr C. K. Mihsra discuss about the variety or breed of fish and shrimp like AmritCatla, Jayanti Rohu. He encouraged farmers to do scientific fish farming and to adopt different technologies to increase the Production. He also discussed about the ornamental fish culture and the net profit from ornamental fish production. DrG. S. Saha discussed about the benefit of scientific aquaculture and also about the advanced technologies developed by ICAR-CIFA. He made farmers aware about Matsya Setu app, ICAR-CIFA WhatsApp group. He also appreciated the work of WSHGs in aquaculture. Former AFO Mr. Raghunath Nayak, shared his valuable experience in the field of scientific aquaculture. Dr Hrusikesh Panda expressed his gratitude to CIFA Scientific team for their technical help at every step of fish farming. He expressed his experience in Aquaculture related to feeding, good source of fish seed etc. Mrs.Husne Banu discussed about soil and water testing for good growth of fish. She also told about proper Oxygenation, application of Iodine and salt for prevention of disease and she suggested the farmers to regularly check fish health status. Scientific team interacted with farmers and addressed their queries on different aspects related to scientific fish farming. Lastly, Dr. C. K. Misra conveyed the vote of thanks.
