Government’s Commitment to Women’s Empowerment

SUBHADRA Mega Awareness Campaign at Puri Blue Flag Beach with Participation of Thousands of SHG Women

                        Till today the total number of “Subhdra” form submission is 30 lakhs

Bhubaneswar, 11/09/2024   (Odisha Samachar / Rajat Mohapatra )- In a remarkable display of unity and empowerment, the Department of Mission Shakti, Government of Odisha successfully organized an awareness campaign in massive scale on SUBHADRA scheme on 11th September, 2024 at the Blue Flag Beach in Puri. The event aimed to highlight the key benefits of the SUBHADRA scheme, which provides financial safety, self-reliance and opportunities for women aged 21 to 60 and to celebrate the strength and achievements of women of the state.

The campaign was led by Hon’ble Deputy Chief Ministers of Odisha Smt Prabhati Parida and Shree K.V.Singhdeo, marking a significant milestone in the government’s commitment to women’s empowerment. Thousands of Mission Shakti SHG members participated in this event which served as a powerful testament to their resilience and collective force.

In their address to the gathering The  Hon’ble Deputy Chief Ministers Smt. Pravati Parida and Shri. K. V. Singh Deo underscored the government’s unwavering focus on supporting women’s development through initiatives like the SUBHADRA scheme, which offers financial assistance, security, and entrepreneurial opportunities to women across the state.

In an emotionally charged session, three Self-Help Group (SHG) women shared their inspiring stories of transformation. These women, who had overcome significant challenges to achieve financial independence with the help of Mission Shakti livelihood initiative spoke about their journey. Their stories moved the audience and highlighted the impact of government initiatives in changing lives.

The event was graced by esteemed guests Shri Sunil Kumar Mohanty, Hon’ble Puri MLA, Shri Om Prakash Mishra,Hon’ble MLA, Satyabadi, Shri Ashrit Patnaik, Hon’ble MLA,Pipili ,cine actors Smt Pinky Pradhan and Shree Sreetam Das. The Principal Secretary, Women and Child Development Smt Subha Sharma welcomed the guests. Officials of the Department of Mission Shakti and  Puri District Administration were present.

The mega awareness campaign on SUBHADRA in Puri marks the beginning of the SUBHADRA initiative with plans to launch awareness campaigns at the district, block, gram panchayat, and village levels. These campaigns will aim to spread widespread awareness and encourage active participation in the scheme among all levels of the community to ensure financial security and empowerment for women across Odisha.

Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister, Smt. Pravati Parida, sampled the delightful millet-based snacks prepared by Mission Shakti members at the Millet Shakti Cafe on Blue Flag Beach. She expressed her appreciation for the culinary efforts and the innovative use of Mandia (millets) by these empowered women.
