MIB convened a meeting of Digital Media SRB, WJAI gave important suggestions

New Delhi,23/7/2024 ( Odisha Samachar) -An important meeting was held at Shastri Bhawan in New Delhi regarding bringing the National Broadcasting Policy 2024 by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. In the meeting, the Ministry took suggestions from the self-regulatory units (SRBs) of the country’s digital media and OTT platforms for the formation of the National Broadcasting Policy. The meeting was chaired by Shri Sanjay Jaju, Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Along with Shri Sanjay Jaju, Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Director Shri Neeraj Kumar and Deputy Director Smt. Deepali Sharma were also present in the meeting. During this, he told that broadcasting is an emerging sector which has immense potential to contribute to the development of the Indian economy. The objective of this policy is that India should become a global leader in the field of broadcasting and this policy should prepare a comprehensive roadmap for 10 years with special focus on the next five years.

Web Journalists Standards Authority (WJSA), the self-regulatory unit of Web Journalists Association of India (WJAI), the country’s first and largest organization for digital media, was represented by National Vice President Sanjeev Ahuja. In the meeting, he advised the officials of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting that the government should make such a rule under which only those people can start or run digital media who have sufficient qualifications for it or their background is from the field of journalism so that the reputation of journalism is maintained. His advice was also appreciated by other representatives including the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. In the meeting, the Secretary also listened carefully to other suggestions of WJAI and assured to implement them.
