Bhubaneswar, 22/07/2024 ( Odisha Samachar/Rajat Mohapatra )-Reghu G, IAS, Director of Technical Education and Training, Odisha (DTET) under the administrative control of Skill Development and Technical Education (SDTE) Department, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Central Tool Room & Training Centre (CTTC), Bhubaneswar, represented by Mr. L. Rajasekhar, General Manager of Central Tool Room & Training Centre (CTTC), Bhubaneswar to setup Mini Tool Rooms in Advanced Manufacturing sector at Government Polytechnic Jajpur and Government ITI Barkote using the OMBADC (Odisha Mineral Bearing Areas Development Corporation) fund on 22.07.2024 at the official chamber of the Hon’ble Minister, Industries, Skill Development and Technical Education at Lok Seva Bhawan, Bhubaneswar in the presence of Hon’ble Minister, Industries and SDTE and Principal Secretary to Government, SDTE. Polytechnic and ITI workshops with state-of-the-art infrastructure, re-skilling & up-skilling of trainers in manufacturing & precision engineering skills and have agreed in principle for setting up of 02 Mini Tool Room & Training Centers in the available workshop area at Government ITI Barkote and Government Polytechnic Jajpur in Odisha under his administrative control. Central Tool Room & Training Centre (CTTC), Bhubaneswar, a Society registered under Society Registration Act 1860 under administrative control of Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India having its office at B-36, Chandaka Industrial Area, Bhubaneswar has committed to setup the 02 Mini Tool Rooms & Training Centers at Government ITI Barkote and Government Polytechnic Jajpur under OMBADC districts and make necessary provisions to provide training to the trainers, accredit such centers with CTTC, and facilitate the training of the trainees on the skilling modules developed by the O/o Development Commissioner, MSME on CNC Milling and CNC Turning access the skill acquired by the trainees and certify as finishing skills modules. Manufacturing has been as the main engine for growth of the economy of a country. In Order to achieve a GDP growth for any country, the manufacturing sector has to grow. To achieve a sustained rate of growth, the manufacturing sector needs to build and maintain competitiveness needed to face the challenges posed by globalization. The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector has been a significant contributor to the manufacturing by according for nearly 40% of total industrial production. However, the facilities within these MSMEs as well as in Large Industries are not enough to cope up with the ever increasing demand for skilled manpower. With this view, Government of Odisha aims to establish state-of-the-art 02 (two) Tool Room & Training Centres/ Mini Tool Rooms (MTRs) equipped with machines with advanced technology and

state-of-the-art infrastructure, CTTC, Bhubaneswar shall provide hand-holding with an objective to train our youths in Odisha in Advanced Technology and Precision Engineering and make them industry ready.

These environment friendly state-of-the-art laboratories can also be used in production by making tool & die with very good quality and as per the demand of the nearby industries with mutually agreed price to generate the Internal Revenue, which will help these MTRs to self-sustain.

These MTRs will not only cater to the need of the industries nearby, but also enhance the skill of the youths from ITIs and Diploma colleges in the field of Manufacturing and Automation. Students from nearby engineering colleges and polytechnics will also be benefited from add-on short tern training which will be imparted by the Technical Experts from CTTC Bhubaneswar.

In addition to bridge the skill gap in industrial automation sector, this MTRs will open employment opportunities for the passed out trainees by honing their skill to perfection, as experts from CTTC Bhubaneswar will provide one-year hand-holding in training the trainers too.

On the occasion, the Minister Sri Sampad Chandra Swain emphasised on building of Koushal Bhawan in existing ITI and Polytechnics. Training and manufacturing are the key factors of employment, the Minister added. He said Vikashit Bharat and Vikashit Odisha soley depends on growth and employment generation. Employment linked incentives gets top priority. Areas to be selected where employment can be generated. There only more incentives to be given. He also pressed on employment through Nijukti Mela. Principal Secretary Smt. Usha Padhi highlighted on selection of areas to the prioritised. As skill development and employment are interlinked, to be more skilled, more employed, training is absolutely necessary. She said for Vikashit Odisha, Vikashita growth and employment is purely necessary.
