Qubik builds a new skill enhancement center at Metal Handicraft Service Centre (MHSC) in Moradabad

Moradabad, 2 January 2024: Under the UP government’s smart city initiative, Qubik, a renowned infrastructure development company, has announced the completion of a new skill enhancement center at the Metal Handicraft Service Centre (MHSC) in Moradabad. This recently constructed building at MHSC is aimed at the government’s effort of providing the local artisans with the best of facilities and conditions at work. This project, tendered in January 2022, and completed in December 2023, marks a significant milestone in advancing urban development and fostering sustainable growth in the region.

Moradabad, known as ‘Peetal Nagri’ or Brass City, is home to one of India’s oldest brassware clusters. However, there are a number of difficulties that artisans in this cluster must overcome, such as unsafe working conditions, minimal pay, and insufficient power supplies. The industry’s ability to grow and compete has been hampered by these problems. The UP Government, under its Smart City Project, directed the expansion of the MHSC to provide artisans with access to safer and faster high-tech solutions.

The 5-floor RCC front structure, built in an overall 60,000 square feet area of MHSC, has been accustomed with state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure. The new building has been equipped with the latest electrical retrofitting, HVAC installation, sanitation facilities, and aesthetically designed interiors and was completed in a stipulated period of 24 months, showcasing Qubik’s commitment to quality and national development.

Commenting on the same, Mr. Nikhil Jain, CEO of Qubik, stated, “The completion of this transformative project is a testament to Qubik’s commitment to national development and economic growth. The Metal Handicraft Service Centre, established in 1983-84 with support from the Government of India, UNDP, and the Government of Uttar Pradesh, has been a crucial player in providing services to the metal handicraft industry. With the newly added facilities, including a Common Facility Centre, Research Testing and Calibration Laboratory (NABL accredited), and Training Facilities, the MHSC aims to uplift the skills of craftspeople and technicians, playing a pivotal role in the growth of the metal handicraft sector.
