Cuttack,27/10/2022 ( Odisha Samachar )- Today i.e. on 27.10.2022, Sri Jayanta Kumar Mallick, Jr. Clerk and Sri Premanjana Swain, Data Entry Operator, both of O/o Drugs Inspector, Ganjam Range-1, Berhampur have been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.25,000/-(Rupees Twenty-five Thousand) from a Complainant (Manager of a Medicine Store) for issue of order in favor of Complt. for change of site of the medicine shop.
Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on 27.10.2022, wherein accused Sri Jayanta Kumar Mallick, Jr. Clerk and Sri Premanjana Swain, Data Entry Operator were caught by a team of Odisha Vigilance inside the office room of Sri Mallick located at office of Drugs Inspector, Ganjam Range-1, Berhampur while demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.25,000/- (Rupees Twenty-five Thousand) from the complainant. Complainant handed over the bribe money to another accused Sri Swain, Data Entry Operator as per direction of Sri Mallick, Junior Clerk. Sri Swain who received the bribe money handed over the same to Sri Mallick. The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Sri Mallick and seized in presence of witnesses. Right hand wash of Sri Swain and both hands wash of Sri Mallick gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by them. Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the rented residential house of Sri Mallick at 10th line, Gajapati Nagar, Berhampur, his office room and rest room of Sri Swain, Data Entry Operator located at O/o Drugs Inspector, Ganjam Range-1, Berhampur.
In this connection, Berhampur Vigilance P.S. Case No.23 dated 27.10.2022 U/s 7 PC Amendment Act, 2018 has been registered against both the accused persons Sri Mallick, Junior Clerk and Sri Swain, Data Entry Operator and is under investigation.
