Cuttack,20/10/2022 ( Odisha Samachar )- Today i.e. on 20.10.2022, Sri Bijayananda Sahu, Junior Engineer (JE), Tileibani Block, Dist-Deogarh has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs. 8,000/-(Rupees Eight Thousand) from a Complainant (Contractor) for facilitating release of the final bill of the work executed by him.
Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on 20.10.2022, wherein accused Sri Bijayananda Sahu, JE was caught by a team of Odisha Vigilance in his rented residential house at Purunagarh, Deogarh Town while demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.8,000/- (Rupees Eight Thousand) from the complainant. The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Sri Sahu and seized in presence of witnesses. Both hands wash as well as pant pocket wash of Sri Sahu gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the rented residential house of Sri Sahu at Purunagarh, Deogarh Town, house at native village Kendupali, PS-Baideswar, Dist-Cuttack and his office room at Tileibani, Deogarh. Accused Sri Bijayananda Sahu, JE has been arrested and is being forwarded to the Court.
In this connection, Rourkela Vigilance P.S. Case No.24 dated 19.10.2022 U/s 7 PC Amendment Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
