Cuttack,24/8/2022 ( Odisha Samachar ) – Yesterday i.e On 23.08.2022, Sri Debadatta Biswal, Revenue Inspector (RI), Balianta, Dist-Khurdha has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.20,000/- (Rupees Twenty Thousand) from a complainant as an advance to the total bribe demand of Rs.40,000/- towards partition of 47 decimals of paternal homestead land amongst brothers.
Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on 23.08.2022, wherein the accused Sri Debadatta Biswal, RI was caught by the team of Odisha Vigilance on the service road of NH-16 near Phulanakhara Chhak while demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.20,000/- (Rupees Twenty Thousand) from the complainant. The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Sri Biswal and seized in presence of witnesses. Both hands wash as well as pant pocket wash of Sri Biswal gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the house of Sri Biswal at Aurobinda Nagar, Kajidiha, PS-Madhupatna, Cuttack and his office room. Accused Sri Debadatta Biswal, RI was arrested on 23.08.2022 and today i.e. on 24.08.2022 he is being forwarded to the Court.
In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance P.S. Case No.27 dated 22.08.2022 U/s 7 PC Amendment Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
