Cuttack,23/8/2022 ( Odisha Samachar )- Today i.e. on 23.08.2022, Sri Uttam Kumar Rout, Head Clerk, Dhenkanal Law College, Dhenkanal has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.8,500/- (Rupees Eight Thousand Five Hundred) from a complainant (an Ex-Student) to deliver his Law Degree (LLB) certificate. Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on 23.08.2022, wherein the accused Sri Uttam Kumar Rout, Head Clerk was caught by the team of Odisha Vigilance in the premises of Dhenkanal Law College while demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.8,500/- (Rupees Eight Thousand Five Hundred) from the complainant. The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Sri Rout and seized in presence of witnesses. Both hands wash as well as pant pocket wash of Sri Rout gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the house of Sri Rout at Station Bazar, Dhenkanal Town and his office room. Accused Sri Uttam Kumar Rout, Head Clerk has been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court.
In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance P.S. Case No.45 dated 22.08.2022 U/s 7 PC Amendment Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
