Cuttack,9/8/2022 ( Odisha Samachar )-Today i.e. on 09.08.2022, Sri Pranaya Kumar Mantry, Asst. Agriculture Officer-cum-Fertilizer Inspector, Paikmal, Dist-Bargarh has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.1,50,000/- (Rupees One Lakh Fifty Thousand) from a complainant (Fertilizer dealer) threatening to cancel his fertilizer license otherwise.
Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on 09.08.2022 wherein the accused Sri Pranaya Kumar Mantry, Asst. Agriculture Officer was caught by the team of Odisha Vigilance near TVS Showroom, Paikmal while demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.1,50,000/- (Rupees One Lakh Fifty Thousand) from the complainant. The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Sri Mantry and seized in presence of witnesses. Both hands wash as well as hand bag wash of Sri Mantry gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the rented residential house of Sri Mantry at Paikmal, Dist-Bargarh, his rented house at Sailashree Vihar, Bhubaneswar, house at native village Koilakanya, Ps-Tigiria, Dist-Cuttack and his office room at Paikmal. Accused Sri Pranaya Kumar Mantry, Asst. Agriculture Officer has been arrested and is being forwarded to the Court.
In this connection, Sambalpur Vigilance P.S. Case No.28 dated 08.08.2022 U/s 7 PC Amendment Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
