Cuttack,3/8/2022 ( Odisha Samachar 0- Today i.e. on 03.08.2022, Smt. Pushpalata Paikaray, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Police, Balipatna Police Station, Dist-Khurdha has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.5,000/- (Rupees Five Thousand) from a complainant of a case registered in 2020 at the Balipatna Police Station, in which Smt. Paikaray is the Investigating Officer. The demand was for adding stringent penal sections and charge sheeting the case.
Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on 03.08.2022 wherein the accused Smt. Pushpalata Paikaray, ASI was caught by the team of Odisha Vigilance on the staircase of her residential quarter near Balipatna Police Station while demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.5,000/- (Rupees Five Thousand) from the complainant. The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Smt. Paikaray and seized in presence of witnesses. Both hands wash of Smt. Paikaray gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by her. Following the trap, search has been launched on the residential government quarter No. E-39, Reserve Police Colony, Jayadev Vihar, Bhubaneswar of Smt. Paikaray. Accused Smt. Puspalata Paikaray, ASI has been arrested and is being forwarded to the Court.
In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance P.S. Case No.23 dated 02.08.2022 U/s 7 PC Act, 1988 as amended by PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
