EX-WELFARE EXTENSION OFFICER, TIHIDI BLOCK, DIST-BHADRAK CONVICTED IN VIGILANCE CASE.

Cuttack,30/7/2022 9 ( Odisha Samachar )- Sri Hrushikesh Mallik, Ex-Welfare Extension Officer, Tihidi Block, Dist-Bhadrak (Retired) was facing trial in the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Balasore in Balasore Vigilance P.S. Case No.2 dated 01.01.1987 U/s 5(2) r/w 5(1)(c)(d) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947/409/468/471/477-A IPC for misappropriation of Govt. money meant for Pre-matric Scholarship of SC & ST students.

Today, i.e. on 30.7.2022, the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Balasore convicted Sri Hrushikesh Mallik, Ex-Welfare Extension Officer (Retired) and sentenced him to undergo simple imprisonment for a period of 1 year and to pay fine of Rs.5,000/- (Rupees Five Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further simple imprisonment for a period of 2 months for the offence U/s 5(2) r/w 5(1)(c) of PC Act. The Hon’ble Court further sentenced him to undergo simple imprisonment for a period of 1 year and to pay fine of Rs.3,000/-(Rupees Three Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further simple imprisonment for a period of 1 month for the offence U/s 5(2) r/w 5(1)(d) of PC Act. The Hon’ble Court further sentenced him to undergo simple imprisonment for a period of 1 year and to pay fine of Rs.2,000/-(Rupees Two Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further simple imprisonment for a period of 15 days for the offence U/s 409 IPC. The Hon’ble Court further sentenced him to undergo simple imprisonment for a period of 1 year and to pay fine of Rs.2,000/-(Rupees Two Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further simple imprisonment for a period of 15 days for the offence U/s 468 IPC. The Hon’ble Court further sentenced him to undergo simple imprisonment for a period of 6 months and to pay fine of Rs.1,000/-(Rupees One Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further simple imprisonment for a period of 10 days for the offence U/s 471 IPC. The Hon’ble Court further sentenced him to undergo simple imprisonment for a period of 1 year and to pay fine of Rs.2,000/-(Rupees Two Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further simple imprisonment for a period of 15 days for the offence U/s 477-A IPC. All the sentences are to run concurrently.

Sri M.M. Mohapatra, Ex-DSP Vigilance, Balasore Division had investigated the case and Sk. Haziruddin, Spl. P.P, Vigilance, Balasore conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
