Cuttack,30/7/2022 ( Odisha Samachar )- Sri Narendra Kumar Jain and Sri Somanath Adhikari of Baripada town, Dist-Mayurbhanj and Sri Hemendra Mohan Panda of Raghunathpur, Bhubaneswar, Dist-Khurdha, the 3 private suppliers were facing trial in the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Baripada in Balasore Vigilance P.S. Case No.60 dated 30.12.2000 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(c)(d) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 for misappropriation of huge amount of Govt. money to the tune of Rs.1,14,29,751/- (One Crore Fourteen Lakh Twenty-nine Thousand Seven Hundred Fifty-one) by violating codal procedure, dis-obedience of Govt. Orders in Subarnarekha Irrigation Division-II, Haladia, Dist-Mayurbhanj.
Today, i.e. on 30.7.2022, the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Baripada convicted Sri Narendra Kumar Jain, Sri Somanath Adhikari and Sri Hemendra Mohan Panda and sentenced them to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and to pay fine of Rs.15,000/- (Rupees Fifteen Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 4 months for the offence U/s 120-B IPC. The Hon’ble Court further sentenced them to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and to pay fine of Rs.15,000/-(Rupees Fifteen Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 4 months for the offence U/s 109 IPC. Both the sentences are to run concurrently.
Sri Himanshu Patra, Ex-Inspector Vigilance, Cell Division, Cuttack had investigated the case and Sri S.K. Das, Spl. P.P, Vigilance, Baripada conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
