Cuttack,27/7/2022 ( Odisha Samachar )- Today i.e. on 27.07.2022, Sri Sanjib Kumar Singh, District Education Officer (DEO), Kendrapara has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.20,000/- (Rupees Twenty Thousand) from a complainant (Govt. employee) for cancelation of his transfer order and modification to another choice place of complainant.
Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on 27.07.2022 wherein the accused Sri Sanjib Kumar Singh, DEO was caught by the team of Odisha Vigilance at his rented house at NH Colony, Kendrapara while demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.20,000/-(Rupees Twenty Thousand) from the complainant. The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Sri Singh and seized in presence of witnesses. Left hand wash of Sri Singh gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the rented residential house of Sri Singh at Peytonsahi near Peytonsahi Church, Cuttack, his rented house at NH Colony, Kendrapara and house at native village Church lane, Balasore as well as house of his relative at Anandanagar, Bolangir. Accused Sri Sanjib Kumar Singh, DEO has been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court.
In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance P.S. Case No.42 dated 26.07.2022 U/s 7 PC Act, 1988 as amended by PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
