Cuttack, 17/6/2022 ( Odisha Samachar )- Today i.e. on 17.06.2022, Sri Bikram Behera, Junior Assistant, office of Block Education Officer, Badasahi, Dist-Mayurbhanj has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.15,000/- (Rupees Fifteen Thousand) from a complainant (Retired Head Master) for preparation of bill towards release of his arrear salary.
Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on 17.06.2022 wherein the accused Sri Bikram Behera, Junior Assistant was caught by the team of Odisha Vigilance inside the office campus of District Education Officer, Mayurbhanj, Baripada while demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.15,000/- (Rupees Fifteen Thousand) from the complainant. The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Sri Behera and seized in presence of witnesses. Left hand wash as well as pant pocket wash of Sri Behera gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the residential quarter of Sri Behera at LIC Colony, Baripada, his office room at Badasahi, Mayurbhanj and house at native village Chhelia(B), Ps-Badasahi, Dist-Mayurbhanj. Accused Sri Bikram Behera, Junior Assistant has been arrested and is being forwarded to the Court.
In this connection, Balasore Vigilance P.S. Case No.15 dated 16.06.2022 U/s 7 PC Act, 1988 as amended by PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
