ODISHA VIGILANCE COMMITTED TO TAKE STRONG ACTION AGAINST ANYONE INDULGING IN CORRUPT PRACTICES-SHRI Y.K.JETHWA, IPS, DIRECTOR VIGILANCE.
Cuttack,13/5/2022 ( Odisha Samachar )-Today i.e. on 13.05.2022 in the afternoon at 2 pm, Smt. Manasi Jena, Inspector of Police, Vigilance, Sambalpur Division has been trapped by Internal Vigilance Unit of Odisha Vigilance for demand and acceptance of undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.10,00,000/- through her associate (private person) named Sri Mukesh Sahoo of Bargarh (Rupees Ten Lakh) from a complainant (Government official) for closing a petition against the complainant, which Smt. Jena was enquiring into.
Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on 13.05.2022, wherein accused Smt. Manasi Jena, Inspector of Police, Vigilance, Sambalpur Division and her associate (private person) Sri Mukesh Sahoo were caught by the team of Odisha Vigilance while demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.10,00,000/- (Rupees Ten Lakh) from the complainant. Sri Sahoo received the bribe money as per direction of Smt. Jena from the complainant. The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Sri Sahoo and seized in presence of witnesses. Both hands wash of Sri Sahoo gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched at 4 locations of Smt. Jena, Vigilance Inspector at Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Bhubaneswar and at the residential house of Sri Sahoo at Bargarh.
In this connection, Vigilance Cell P.S. Case No.5 dated 12.05.2022 U/s 7/12 PC Act, 1988 as amended by PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered against accused Smt Jena and Sri Sahoo and is under investigation.
In this connection, Shri Y.K. Jethwa, IPS, Director, Vigilance stated that;
“We have activated the Internal Vigilance Unit which is operating within the Cell Division of Vigilance Directorate. It is exclusively focused on keeping a watch on activities of Vigilance Officials. We are committed to take strong action against anyone indulging in corrupt practices.”
