Cuttack,1/4/2022 ( Odisha Samachar )- Sri Bhagirathi Pradhan, Ex-Senior Clerk, office of Inspector, Ayurveda, Sundargarh, A/p-Senior Clerk, Homeopathy College, Sambalpur was facing trial in the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Sundargarh in Sambalpur Vigilance P.S. Case No.62 dated 01.11.2006 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 for demand and acceptance of illegal gratification of Rs.4,000/- (Rupees Four Thousand) from a complainant (Doctor) for processing his LPC and Service Book and to send the same to his new place of posting.
On 31.03.2022, the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Sundargarh convicted Sri Bhagirathi Pradhan, Ex-Senior Clerk and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 1 year and to pay fine of Rs.5,000/- (Rupees Five Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 months for the offence U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The Hon’ble Court further sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and to pay fine of Rs.5,000/-(Rupees Five Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 months for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Both the sentences are to run concurrently.
Sri Ramesh Kumar Panigrahi, Ex-Inspector, Vigilance Sambalpur Division had investigated the case and Sri Gourmohan Dash, I/c Spl. P.P, Vigilance, Sundargarh conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
