EX-GRAM ROJGAR SEVAK (GRS), BHARSUJA GP, AGALPUR BLOCK, DIST-BOLANGIR AND ONE PRIVATE PERSON CONVICTED IN VIGILANCE TRAP CASE.

Cuttack,31/3/2022 ( Odisha Samachar )- Sri Nityananda Majhi, Ex-Gram Rojgar Sevak(GRS), Bharsuja GP, Agalpur Block, Dist-Bolangir (Disengaged from service) and Sri Narayan Chhatar (Private person) of village Bindhapali, Ps-Loisingha, Dist-Bolangir were facing trial in the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bolangir in Sambalpur Vigilance P.S. Case No.71 dated 19.07.2016 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7/8 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988/34 IPC for demand and acceptance of illegal gratification of Rs.50,000/- (Rupees Fifty Thousand) from a complainant to prepare and to submit 2nd muster roll in respect of the earth work done by the complainant and other co-labourers of his village Gandpali under Agalpur Block, Dist-Bolangir.

On 31.03.2022, the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bolangir convicted Sri Nityananda Majhi, Ex-GRS and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 1 year and to pay fine of Rs.2,000/- (Rupees Two Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 1 month for the offence U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The Hon’ble Court further sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 1 year and to pay fine of Rs.2,000/-(Rupees Two Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 1 month for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Both the sentences are to run concurrently.

The Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bolangir also convicted Sri Narayan Chhatar (Private person) and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 1 year and to pay fine of Rs.2,000/- (Rupees Two Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 1 month for the offence U/s 8 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

Sri Abhiram Kar, Ex-DSP, Vigilance Sambalpur Division had investigated the case and Sri Jayakrishna Sahu, Spl. P.P, Vigilance, Bolangir conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
